Fall Is Our Best Season: What Wholesale Buyers Need to Know Right Now

September is the most important month in the Sunsum® wholesale calendar. The buyers who act in September are the ones who have autumn product on the floor when the first cool weekend arrives and customers start shopping for home warmth. The buyers who wait until October are the ones calling us in November asking if we have inventory left.

Here is what to know and act on right now.

Why Fall Is Our Peak Wholesale Season

Two things happen in autumn that drive our wholesale velocity to its annual high:

Gift-giving starts. The holiday gift consideration window opens in October and stays open through December. Home fragrance — especially our gift-ready botanicals and kit formats — is one of the highest-conversion categories in boutique gift retail during this period. Our smudge kits (K400 and similar) and reed diffuser bundles are purchased more frequently as gifts than as self-purchases during Q4.

Seasonal home reset. Autumn is when consumers refresh their home environment. The psychology is seasonal: out with summer lightness, in with warmth and depth. Reed diffuser sticks, warm-spiced fragrance oils, and gypsum objects all index up in consumer purchase intent during September–November.

What to Stock

Reed Diffuser Botanicals: Mini Pinecone (D412) and Mountain’s Edge (D420) are the fall breakouts. Stock at least 1.5x your usual reed diffuser single-SKU quantity. Country Garden (D410) is a year-round performer that peaks in autumn.

Fragrance Oils: Autumn Harvest collection oils — Spiced Rum Punch (R546), World’s Fair (R540) — are highest-velocity in September and October. Grounding collection oils (Earthy Goods R532, No. 1 Kingdom R501) move steadily all season.

Gift Kits: The Fireside Chat Smudge Kit (K400) is our highest average order value item for gift retail. Boutiques that stock it convert it at high rates, especially in November.
